CVE Descriptions

Race condition in Linux kernel 2.6.15 to 2.6.17, when running on SMP platforms, allows local users to cause a denial of service (crash) by creating and exiting a large number of tasks, then accessing the /proc entry of a task that is exiting, which causes memory corruption that leads to a failure in the prune_dcache function or a BUG_ON error in include/linux/list.h.

EPSS

EPSS is a scoring model that predicts the likelihood of a vulnerability being exploited.

EPSS Score

The EPSS model produces a probability score between 0 and 1 (0 and 100%). The higher the score, the greater the probability that a vulnerability will be exploited.

EPSS Percentile

The percentile is used to rank CVE according to their EPSS score. For example, a CVE in the 95th percentile according to its EPSS score is more likely to be exploited than 95% of other CVE. Thus, the percentile is used to compare the EPSS score of a CVE with that of other CVE.

source: https://www.securityfocus.com/bid/18183/info The Linux kernel is prone to a local denial-of-service vulnerability. This issue is due to a flaw in the 'proc' filesystem. This vulnerability allows local users to cause a kernel panic, denying further service to legitimate users. This issue affects Linux kernel versions 2.6.15 through 2.6.17-rc5 on multiprocessor computers running SMP kernels. Other kernel versions may also be affected. https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb-bin-sploits/-/raw/main/bin-sploits/27925.tgz
